Illegal cowshed in Kirad Layout ruining the dream of smart city

Nagpur: Since long the citizens have been wishing Nagpur to become one of the metro cities like Delhi or Mumbai . No doubt, the Centre and NMC have vowed join the clean India campaign and have been taking efforts to make Nagpur a clean and neat city. The Union Minister and State Govt are also hell bent on making Nagpur, a smart city. But, the tragedy is that the ruling party and opposition jointly cannot match the cowshed owners’ unity. It is difficult to handle this problem in Nagpur city which has a population of 25 lakhs. Even the common man has to bear the problem of these illegal structures. Hope the dream of planning clean, beautiful Nagpur and the smart city does not remain unfulfilled because of the silent concerned administration. The agitated local youths have been demanding the cowsheds which are illegal structures should be shifted from the health point of view.

‘Nagpur Today’ undertook a survey of Prabhag No. 10 to look into the state of Clean India in Nagpur city. It was sheer shocking to see the state of the Kirad Layout behind the Manakapur Post Office in this Prabhag. The illegal structures have mushroomed in thousands of sq ft area open land. Talking about the layout the social workers residing in Kirad Layout namely Nitin Kanojiya, Ramsingh Beghal, Raju Shah, Raju Pali, Eajat Pali, Navin Tiari, Shrikant Tiwari, Asha Pathan, Radheshyam Jiaswal, Bhola PrasadSedhiya, Nilesh Baniya, Dinesh Bele , Amit Sendhiya said, the layout was formed about 50 years back. Shriram Naresh alias Chotelal Yadav, Ramshreyas alias Munna Yadav and Ramsumare Sunderlal Yadav have occupied the vacant space from last 20 years, of layout owners land admeasuring 12,500 sq ft and have kept about 120 cattle illegally.

Main Problem of the area
Abour 300 residents , the passerby and the devotees at Maqbool Masjid are fed up with this problem of illegal structures. The free movement of the animals of has become nuisance for the people , They have been making the roads dirty. The animals are forever found straying everywhere and have been damaging the vehicles of the residents and others. The diseases are fasr spreading around here because of the cowdung has been giving rising to pests and bacterias. Two residents have been admitted in the nearby hospital. During the rainy and summer seasons the condition gets worse as obnoxious odour spreads around because of the gases that are emitted from the cowdung. The drain pipes have choked because o the garbage.


Illegal cowshed affecting holy place
The Muslims devotees have been visiting Masjid morning and evening and also hold Namaz every Friday and so they clean the place everyday but still it becomes difficult to keep it clean because of animal nuisances. Besides thi, the straying animals have been damaging the vehicles of the people coming to the masjid. Due to this many a times there have been scuffles between the encroachers and the devotees.

Local youths hold cleanliness drive
The local youths have collected six trucks full of cowdung and garbage from open land and roads sent it to Bhandewadi dumping yard. In this they got the helping hand of Corporators Sakshi Rut and Uikey.

Residents raise their voice to be heard till Delhi
The workers here are running a letter drive and under this they have sent letter from 2 July 2017 to 9 November 2017 to Union Health Ministry, Chief Minister Water and Saintary Ministry , Director Clean India ,Municipal Commissioner, Mayot, Opposition Leadres Divisional Officer o North Nagpur of NIT, Ward Officer, Managlwari Zone, NMC Health Officer NMC Vet Officer, District Diary Develpoment Officer District Animal Husbandry Officer, District Health Officer, Police Commissionr, Deputy Police Commissioner, Manakapur Police Inspector and all the four Corporators of Prabhag 10. Through these letters they have apprise them of the encroachment.


The things they did and said

-Ward Officer Harish Raut Said that it was not there work to remove illegal structures and they should go to the police.

APII Patil of Manakapur Police Station turned a desf ear.
Mayor Jichkar assured to look into the matter.
Municipal Commissioner ordered the Ward Officer to look into the matter.
Municipal Additional Commissioner wrote a letter to Distrit Dairy Officer asking him take necessary action.
NMC Vet Officer twice wrote letter to Manapur police station to take legal action but were turned down.
MLA Sudhakar Deshmukh wrote letter to NMC Vet officer.
Despite this the Corporators have not tried to solve the problem.

Plot owner in problem
The owner of the layout is related to the cowshed owners. The Plot owner Jeetendra Harode is less interested in removing the cowshed but interested in selling the same at market rate. Because of the cowshed no one is interested in buying the land.
