IBM holds training cum workshop

Nagpur: Under Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), Indian Bureau of Mines, Regional Office, Nagpur had organised a one day Training-cum-Workshop at IBM Headquarter, Nagpur on 1st March under the theme ‘Swachhata Se Satat Vikas’.

Ravindra Nath Jha, CMD (In-charge), MECL was the Chief Guest while Ranjan Sahai, Controller General, IBM presided over the inaugural programme of the Training-cum-Workshop. Suresh Kumar Adapa, Scientist D, Western Central Region, MoEFCC was guest of honour while Arun Prasad, Regional Controller of Mines was Nodal Officer of the Workshop.

At the outset of the programme the the dignitaries were welcomed with the bouquets by IBM Officers.

Inaugurating the training cum workshop Ravindra Nath Jha, CMD, MECL apart from the basic importance of health and hygiene, urged the Industry to think towards R&D in the mining sector as we are falling quite short in the exploration and reserves.

Speaking on the occasion Arun Prasad, RCOM briefed about the purpose of conducting this workshop, to understand sustainable mining by the industry, issues and constraints of SBM and to achieve capacity building of mines staff for implementing the plan of SBM.

S K Adapa from MoEFCC said that there are issues and challenges related to Swachhata and environment in the mining sector but it can be overcome by adopting sustainable practices.

Ranjan Sahai, CG, IBM stressed upon the need of sustainability in the mining sector and the profitability of the company He also wished all the success for the workshop and asked the participants of the workshop to learn from the others by interacting during the Workshop for ensuring a healthy environment in and around the mine areas by adopting best practices towards cleanliness and make the dream of Swachh Bharat come true.

The inaugural session was followed by Technical Session in which presentation in form of slides and short video clips were deliberated by various mining industry persons from Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh states on “Innovative Measures adopted for clean and green environment, Sustainable Mining (SDF) and Showcasing of work towards Swachhata, ODF & others”.

IBM officers present during the workshop were S Tiu, Indira Ravindran, P K Jain, Abhay Agrawal, Parag Tadlimbekar, Sandhya Lal, D W Beck and M U Siddiqui, S M Dorle, R Masram, Deepak Chinchkhede, A S Chachane, B D Sonare alongwith Snehankit Chatte.
