Husband, in-laws booked in attempt to murder case

Nagpur: Gittikhadan police have booked husband and in-laws of a 30-year-old woman for allegedly trying to kill her on Monday.

According to reports, Kiran Kanojiya (30) is a resident of Netaji Housing Society, Zingabai Takli. She was married to Sachin. Soon after the marriage, Sachin along with his mother Pooja, brother Vinay and father Shama started harassing Kiran. They asked Kiran to bring Rs 10 lakh from her father. Kiran out rightly refused to seek help from her father. After her refusal, Sachin and his family started manhandling Kiran and harassed her, both mentally and physically. However, after her repeated refusal to bring the money, the accused finally planned to eliminate her. On Monday, they forcefully gave her a poisonous potion in a attempt to kill her. The accused later admitted her to Government Medical College and Hospital in order to pose the murder as suicidal attempt. However, their planned failed when the woman gained her consciousness and gave her statement to Gittikhadan police. She, in her statement, has alleged her husband and in-laws of domestic violence and attempt to murder.

Gittikhadan police, on the basis of the statement of Kiran, have booked Sachin, Pooja, Vinay and Shama under Sections 307, 498 (a) and 34 of the IPC and Sections 3 and 4 of The Dowry Prohibition Act. Further investigations are under way.
