Hunters kill tigress in Tadoba, Mungantiwar orders probe

A shocking incident of tigress being hunted in Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR), in Chandrapur district has come to fore, raising serious questions of the security of the wildlife. This is the first of its incident reported in TATR, endangering the lives of big cats.

The incident took place in Khatoda Gate area in the core zone of TATR. Surprisingly, the area is out of bounds for the common people. However, the poachers not only entered the area but laid a trap in which a 2-year-old tigress got caught and subsequently died.

Following the incident, the wildlife lovers expressed severe anger, which has created sensation in the TATR administration. Looking at the seriousness of the matter, Forest Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar, who also represents Chandrpaur, has ordered for a detailed probe.
