Hundreds of students appear for paper-based IIT JEE (Main) in city

Approximately 13 lakh students appeared for the pen and paper exam today. The online/computer based exam will take place on April 10 and 11. across the country

Nagpur: Hundreds of students in Nagpur on Saturday appeared for Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Exam (IIT JEE), conducted by Central Board of Examination (CBSE). Approximately 13.03 lakh candidates appeared for the vital exam across the country. Centre Point College was one of the centres in Nagpur where aspiring boys and girls gathered in large number for the pen and paper exam today. The online/computer based exam will take place on April 10 and 11.

Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is an all India common entrance examination conducted to provide admission in various engineering courses. The entrance examination is being conducted into two parts, JEE-Main and JEE-Advanced. Candidates who clear IIT-JEE main examination are eligible to appear for IIT-JEE advance which provides and entry to IITs.

DSC_7336JEE (Main) exam has been bifurcated into two parts — Paper 1 for admission to BE  and B.Tech courses, and Paper 2 for admission to B.Arch and B.Planning courses. Paper 1 consists of objective-type questions with equal weightage to Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Paper 2 will have objective-type questions in Mathematics as well as questions to test candidates’ aptitude and drawing.

There are a total of 96 questions, carrying 360 marks. For every correct answer by the student, 4 marks will be provided and for a wrong answer by the candidate, there will be a deduction of one mark.

The JEE (Main) was on Saturday held in two parts i.e 9.30 am to 12.30 pm and 2 pm to 5 pm.DSC_7331
