Nagpur:
A huge consignment of ganja (marijuana) being transported in a car came to light accidentally, literally. A car, Honda Accord (DL-4C/ AB 6700), going towards Delhi from Katol met with an accident midway near Chikhli (Maina) Shivar around 6 am on Monday. What stunned the nearby villagers was that the car was transporting a huge consignment of ganja.

The villagers alerted the Katol police about the accident and discovery of the heady stuff. Cops reached the spot and found two persons trapped in the mangled car and were detained. However, two other persons had already fled the accident spot. Upon checking, the cops too were shocked to find huge quantity of ganja stacked in the dicky of the car. The two detained accused have been identified as Amitsingh Kisansingh Tomar (25), native of Mathura (UP) and Vijaypal Surajram Poyi (27) of R K Puram, New Delhi.

Both accused were staying in a newly built hotel in Katol since the past two days. The accused told cops that they were instructed by a person named Tiger to proceed to Delhi by a car parked at a hotel near Katol Bus Stand. However, after crossing Katol they lost balance of the car and met with an accident.

Ganja Seized
The value of the seized ganja is being quoted in crores in international market but the Katol police are putting the value only Rs 19 lakh. That such a huge consignment was being smuggled from Katol has raised question mark over the role of cops.
Upon receving information about ganja seizer, Nagpur Rural Superintendent of Police Anant Rokde and Additional SP Narsingh Shekhane rushed to Katol and supervised the investigation.

According to sources, the accident hit car was lying at the spot for hours and when the Katol cops reached the spot, they took it to police station. In police station, the cops allegedly tampered with the stock of ganja and only revealed a small quantity of the narcotic seized. A local MNS leader reportedly charged that cops were trying to hide crucial facts such as actual quantity of seized ganja and other facts. He has demanded a high-level probe in the entire episode.
