Nagpur: Sakkardara police have booked husband and in-laws of a woman on the charges of abetting her to commit suicide.
The deceased, Sirin Shakeel Pathan (27), resident of Plot No. 852, Ashirvad Nagar, ended her life by consuming some poisonous substance around 11.25 am on Monday. Even she was taken to Centre Point Hospital the doctors there has pronounced Sirin brought dead. Sakkardara police, on the basis of information provided by Mohd Rajif Hussain Khan (52), resident of Plot No. 81, near KDK College, Shrinagar, had registered a case of accidental death at that time and launched a thorough probe.
During the investigation, cops came to know that Sirin’s husband Shakeel Harid Pathan, father-in-law Harid Pathan, sister-in-law Saleha Kalim Sheikh, brother-in-law Kalim Sheikh and mother-in-law (who has not been identified) connived with each other and started tormenting Sirin soon after marriage in May 2016. The accused husband and in-laws frequently demanded Sirin to bring dowry and tortured her mentally and physically. The accused used to abuse and beat her severely. Fed up with the ordeal, Sirin committed suicide on Monday, May 28.
Sakkardara PSI J S Tiwari, based on complaint of Mohd Rajif Hussain Khan and probe, booked the accused husband Shakeel Harid Pathan, father-in-law Harid Pathan, sister-in-law Saleha Kalim Sheikh, brother-in-law Kalim Sheikh and mother-in-law under Sections 306, 498(A), 323, 504, 34 of the IPC. Further probe is underway.
