Nagpur:
A cook, working in a hotel, burgled his employer’s house and decamped with gold chain and cash collectively valued at Rs 1.75 lakh. Although the theft took place on August 20, it came to the notice of the hotel owner on Thursday only. Cops have launched hunt to nab the accused cook who has reportedly absconded to his Rajasthan town.

The accused Puransingh Pugamsingh Chauhan (32), native of Punera, District Ajmer (Rajasthan), was working as cook in the hotel of Lokeshkumar Omprakash Kumawat (38), resident of Beltarodi, Swami Apartment, B Wing Flat No. 204, opposite Purti Super Bazaar. Around 3 pm on August 20, the accused cook told the hotel owner that his relative has died and he wanted to go to his native place. He further told Lokeshkumar that he has to collect his bag and other material from his (Lokeshkumar’s) house.

On this false pretext, the accused cook went Lokeshkumar’s house when no other family member was there and smashed the lock of a wooden almirah. He laid his hands on gold chain worth Rs 23,000 and cash Rs 1.51 lakh and since then never showed his face to Lokeshkumar again. He reportedly absconded to his native place in Rajasthan.

Hudkeshwar PSI Y Sahare has booked the accused cook under Section 381 of the IPC and searching for him.
