Hooligans storm NMC Asst Commissioner’s office in Lakadganj, ransack property

Nagpur: A group of hooligans stormed the office of NMC’s Assistant Commissioner in Lakadganj and ransacked computers and other property causing loss to the tune of Rs 1 lakh on Wednesday. Accused have been booked but no arrest has been made so far.

The Assistant Commissioner of Nagpur Municipal Corporation Subhash Jaideo (58), in his complaint to Lakadganj police said that he was sitting in his office around 1 pm on Wednesday. During the same time, the accused Vivek Verma, Nilesh Dayaram Tighre, aged 20-25 and their accomplices entered Jaideo’s office and wanted discussion on some civic problems. The situation flared up as the accused suddenly went on rampage and ransacked office computers, table glass and other property causing loss to the tune of Rs 1 lakh. The accused also obstructed a public servant from performing his official duty.

Lakadganj Woman API Gedam, acting on Jaideo’s complaint, booked the accused under 186, 147, 149 of the IPC read with Sections 3, 4 of Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act and started a probe. No arrest has been made in this connection so far.
