Nagpur: In yet another hit and run mishap, a motorcyclist was knocked dead by an unidentified vehicle in Kalamna area here on Wednesday midnight. The vehicle and its driver are being searched by cops.
A resident of Plot No. 163, Rambhumi Society, Vijay Nagar, the deceased has been identified as Kamalesh Jujram Verma (42). Around 0030 hours of Thursday, Kamalesh was going on his Hero Honda CDS Deluxe motorcycle (MH-31/EC 1093) towards Automotive Square. When Kamalesh reached near Renault Service Centre, just before Chikhli bridge, an unidentified vehicle being driven rashly hit his motorcycle with forceful impact. As a result, Kamalesh suffered fatal injuries and died on the spot before any medical help could be provided to him. The driver fled the spot along with his vehicle. Some passersby informed Kalamna police about the mishap. A team of cops, led by PSI S B Jadhav, reached the spot and sent body of Kamalesh to Mayo Hospital for post-mortem.
Kalamna police have registered an offence against the unidentified driver of the killer vehicle under Sections 279, 304(A) of IPC read with Sections 134, 177 of Motor Vehicles Act and searching for him.
