Hit-and-run: Speeding car kills cloth trader in Lakadganj

Nagpur: In yet another hit-and-run incident, a cloth trader was killed when the motorcycle he was riding was rammed by a rashly driven Maruti car in Lakadganj area here on Thursday night.

A resident of LIG Quarter No. 33, near Shitala Mata Mandir, the deceased has been identified as Bhagwan Mohandas Venshiyani (34). On Thursday around 10 pm, Bhagwan closed his shop Guru Men’s Wear situated at HB Town, Pardi, and aws returning home on his Hero Ignitor motorcycle (MH-49/K 1376).

As he reached near Sudarshan Square, Old Bhandara Road, a recklessly driven Maruti car (PB-57/2653) rammed his bike with forceful impact. The dash left Bhagwan fatally injured and he died on the spot. After the mishap, the unidentified driver of the car fled the spot along with his vehicle.

Lakadganj PSI R Lokhande, based on the complaint lodged by Chandar Naresh Hemnani (28) of Shastrinagar, booked the unidentified car driver under Sections 279, 338, 304(A) of the IPC and searching for him.
