Nagpur: Even as the dust refused to settle on the issue of thriving hookah parlours in Nagpur, particularly in Sadar area, yet another such den was raided in the dark of the nights on Sunday at Hotel Heritage in the similar locality. Sadar police stormed onto to the terrace of the hotel where the alleged hookah bar was being run. Meanwhile, police has initiated challan against Heritage hotel manager Walton Tony Marel, 43, Nagarjuna colony, Jaripatka.

Recently, Sadar police have caught the eye of storm with maximum such parlours mushrooming under its beat. After the raid on House of Beer pub near VCA ground and the alleged firing and scuffle incident at a hotel in Sadar on February 14, the latest raid has also questioned the efficacy of the police action. Sources said that cops going easy on the operators, lend way to the violators to walk scot free without much trouble and this trend has driven these hotels and restaurants to take advantage of the existing situation.

It may be mentioned that hordes of young boys and girls have recently caught up with the addiction to such bars, while the top police officials have literally turned blind eye towards the situation. “A very strict action should be applied to set an example that discourages many others to stop their murky business or face the heat of law,” expressed a citizen whose son has been a frequent visitor to hookah parlour. “I am tired of my son remaining out all night till 4 am and the hookah parlour is to blame,” he lamented.

Late night Hukkah parties and loud music also creates commotion for the nearby residential neighborhood.
