Nagpur News: An encroachment next to popular city restaurant Hibiscus, situated at Gupta House in Civil Lines, was demolished by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) on Tuesday morning for encroachment.

The encroachment was being used by the hotel on the plot of land rented from the owners of Gupta House. The owner had received several notices from NMC regarding the hotel, which was encroaching upon a public drain beside it. The owner chose to ignore the repeated notices, and officials from NMC’s Dharampeth Zonal office landed at the hotel this morning.

When Gupta House Manager Mangesh Khobragade was approached, he lost his cool, taking NMC driver Dilip Patil by his collar and manhandling him. The officials called for help from Sitabuldi Police Station and policemen had to be brought in to manage the situation.

The encroaching tin shed has been demolished. A case had been registered under Section 353 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in this regard.
