Nagpur:
After four days of hide and seek, Rain Indra blessed the city and Vidarbha region with heavy hands on Monday. The pouring in the afternoon, as usual left many streets waterlogged, drains overflowing and thus exposed the Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s rooftop claims of monsoon preparedness. Even though the heavy rains stopped, the clouds remained dark with drizzles making their presence at their whims. The wet weather provided great relief to citizens from the torturous humid conditions. The temperature dropped considerably.

There were reports of disruption of power in many areas and uprooting of trees. The heavy downpour also submerged many roads across the city crippling the vehicular traffic. Many low-lying areas were also inundated.

The long absence of rains was causing anxiety among citizens and farmers as well. The Met office had forecast normal monsoon. After the initial days of raining, the farmers had started sowing operations hoping the good spell of rains in the coming days. But the absence of rain and the hot, humid conditions had cast a nervous spell. But the Rain God showed His mercy and blessed the region with heavy rains bringing smiles on faces of farmers. Regional meteorological centre officials have predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over the region in coming days.
