Headquarters Maintenance Command organizes Run for Unity

Nagpur: The Headquarters Maintenance Command Vayusena Nagar organized Run for Unity to mark birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel that is also observed as ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ (National Unity Day) on October 31. The aim of the Run for Unity was to encourage and foster Unity, Brotherhood and Patriotic mood across the nation thereby joining the great nation in paying homage to “Iron Man” Sardar Patel, who is credited with Uniting India, post Independence.

The event started with administering of Oath of Unity to the Air Warriors along with other personnel. Later the Run for Unity was flagged by Air Marshal Hemant Sharma, AVSM VSM, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Headquarters Maintenance Command at 8.30 am in the presence of other Senior Officers of Maintenance Command.

The Run for Unity saw the participation of all the Air Warriors of Maintenance Command and the energetic spirit of participation in such large number has sent out a loud and clear message that “We Stand United”, and that ‘India is One’. The event proved to be an ideal opportunity for spreading awareness about Sardar Patel’s contribution to Indian history.
