Nagpur: The Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court on Tuesday issued contempt notice to Education Minister Vinod Tawde for paasing the order to shift a school at Chimur despite a stay.

The High Court also issued notice to Chimur MLA Kirtikumar alias Bunty Bhangdia, under whose influence the school was allegedly shifted. A division bench comprising Justice Bhushan Gavai and Justice Sunil Shukre, while hearing a contempt petition filed by Vandaniya Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Education Society charging the respondent minister with buckling under the pressure of local legislator, sought their replies.

Due to dispute in Rashtriya Vidyalaya, run by Gandhi Shikshan Seva Samiti in2001, the State Government withdrew its approval and allowed Vandaniya Rashtrasant Tukdoji Sanstha to run it as New Rashtriya Vidyalaya. The school was functional till 2015 and suddenly the Education Department decided to transfer it back to Gandhi Shikshan Sanstha and the first petition was filed by aggrieved society questioning legality of such a decision. The High Court had stayed the notice and noted that Minister had no authority to take any decision.

Suddenly, on August 7, 2018, again the Education Department informed the petitioner Society that the school was being handed back to Gandhi Shikshan Sanstha.
