HC grants parole to former don Arun Gawli to attend ailing wife

Nagpur: The Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court on Monday granted parole to former underworld don Arun Gawli. A writ petition moved by Gawli against rejection of his parole leave by Divisional Commissioner Nagpur has been allowed by Division Bench presided over by Justice B P Dharmadhikari and Justice A S Chandurkar.

Arun Gawli, who has been lodged in Nagpur Central Prison, had prayed for release citing his wife’s ailment. He had further stated that his wife needs to be operated upon on 25-10-16. Respondents Divisional Commissioner Nagpur and Jail Superintendent have been directed to release Arun Gawli on 21-10-16 latest by afternoon. He has been directed to surrender on 2-11-16.
