Nagpur: In an unfortunate turn of events, the Harlequin baby which was born in Lata Mangeshkar Hospital in the wee hours i.e. 12:45 am of June 11, 2016 died late in the afternoon of June 13, 2016.
The Hospital authorities were not available for confirming this news.
Since this birth of a Harlequin was a rare occurrence and only one in 300000 babies are born with this unique genetic disorder, the general populace and the media went gaga with their inquisitiveness to know more and report more details of the baby.
The management and the Gynecology Department of Lata Mangeshkar Hospital managed to keep the names of the parents’ confidential quoting ethical practice. However, the news had spread like wild fire.
Unfortunately, the poor baby gave up the spirit after 48-hours of struggle for survival.
