Har Ghar Tiranga campaign picks up momentum in Nagpur

Nagpur: Har Ghar Tiranga campaign is reaching its crescendo as Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and others have distributed lakhs of tri-colour in Nagpur to enable citizens to hoist it on their houses.

Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Radhakrishnan B and Chinmay Gotmare, CEO, Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation Limited (NSSCDCL) released a giant balloon with the slogan ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ at NMC’s New Administrative Building, Civil Lines.

Additional Municipal Commissioners Deepak Kumar Meena and Ram Joshi, Deputy Commissioner Ravindra Bhelave, Deputy Commissioner, Solid Waste Management, Dr Gajendra Mahalle, Sports Officer Piyush Ambulkar were prominently present.

Meanwhile, NMC said, it has distributed nearly 2 lakh tri-colour among the students of various schools in Nagpur. NMC alone runs 130 schools wherein 15,000 students study. The civic body has targeted hoisting the national flag atop six lakh households.

Nearly four lakh school children will be participating in the campaign. The tri-colour is to be hoisted atop the house from August 13 to 15 and during the campaign, NMC has plans to put up lights in three colours in prominent squares and thoroughfares. Also, prominent and historic buildings would be illuminated in tri-colour.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) too started distribution of tricolour to mark ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan’. Adv Dharampal Meshram, Secretary, BJP, Maharashtra Unit, presented tri-colour to East Nagpur MLA Krishna Khopde to start the campaign. Prof Pramod Pendke, Sanjay Awchat, Raju Gotmare, Rajesh Sangewar, Suresh Barai, Ashok Deshmukh and others were present on the occasion.

Nehru Yuva Kendra has undertaken a contact campaign to motivate citizens to unfurl tricolour as part of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign. Through the network of its branches in tehsil, the volunteers of the Kendra are reaching out to people. Already, campaigns have been initiated in Kuhi, Hingna, Parseoni and in the city.

Jaiprakash Gupta, Central Member, Khadi and Gram Udyog Ayog, participating in the web discussion on ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, said that every household in the city will be participating. Every Indian is proud of tri-colour and this year, Independence Day is special as it marks 75 years of freedom and the campaign provides an opportunity to showcase their patriotism.
