Handbook of Dialysis for Technicians published by Central India Nephrology Society released

The Handbook on Dialysis for Technicians published by Central India Nephrology Society (CINS) was released at the hands of Dr Dilip Pahari, President of Indian Society of Nephrology at IMA Hall. Dr Pahari highlighted some recent advances in Dialysis Technology like Haemodiafiltration which is useful to tackle dialysis associated hypertension. Dr. V.L. Gupta, one of the editors, elaborated on the Handbook.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Vinayak  Deshpande, eminent economist and Pro- Vice Chancellor of Rashrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University encouraged the dialysis technicians to become MBA and understand the patient’s mind, body and soul. “Medicine is now not only doctor-patient interaction but heavily dependent on technology. So to practice modern medicine, the role of technician is crucial,” Dr Deshpande said.

A CME on vascular access was also organized on the occasion in which Dr Rohit Gupta spoke on AV grafts, Dr. Rajesh Mundhada dwelt on temporary vascular access and Dr. Ashwinikumar Khandekar spoke on monitoring of vascular access for dialysis. Dr. Dumre, Head of the Adult Continuing Education Cell of RTMNU, and Dr Dilip Gupta, Chairman, Vivekanand Medical Mission were also prominently present on the occasion.

CINS plans to bring out an android application and learning management system for dialysis, said Dr. D.S. Ookalkar, Chairman, Central India Nephrology Society and one of the editors of the book. The function was attended by budding doctors,
