Gun-wielding gang of 4 robbers busted, dacoity in Tehsil area foiled

Nagpur: Acting on a tip-off, a team of Crime Branch on Monday rounded up a gang of four robbers, armed with a gun and other lethal weapons, planning a dacoity in Tehsil area. All the four arrested robbers hailed from Balaghat in Madhya Pradesh. The fifth member of the gang managed to dodge police net and is being hunted.

Constable Shatrughna Kadu, attached to Crime Branch, on Monday night, received secret information that a gang of five suspicious persons had assembled at a public place near Hazrat Baba Bagdadi Shah Dargah, Guard Line Quarders in Tehsil police jurisdiction.

Acting swiftly, a team of Crime Branch raided the place and detained four gang members. The fifth member managed to flee the spot. On being frisked, cops found a pistol, cartridges, two knives, camera, and other material collectively worth Rs 70,000 being carried by the gang.

The four accused have been identified as Rahul alias Rajendra Rajesh Palewar (19), Mohd Kalim alias Sonu Akhtar Ali (22), Vinod Kumar Bhojlal Bhimte (20) and Amir Khan Mehboob Khan (19), all natives of Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh. The absconding member of the gang also hailed from Balaghat.

Tehsil API Gaekwad booked the gang members under Sections 399, 402 of the IPC read with Sections 3/25, 4/25 of Arms Act and Section 135 of Maharashtra Police Act and put them behind bars.
