GST will end taxation miseries of trade & industry political parties to rise above politics to support GST

Nagpur: In a rare occasion for the first time in the Country both trade & industry join hands together in solidarity and sought support from all political parties including Congress to support GST Bill in the Parliament for bringing an end to taxation miseries being faced by trade & industry in India. This strong voice was echoed at a GST Conference held jointly by traders body the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) & industry bodies FICCI, CII, ASSOCHAM and PHD Chamber at New Delhi today.

​Speaking at the Conference, CAIT Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal said that both trade & industry is webbed into cobweb of complex tax system having multiple authorities and GST is seen as a taxation system which will convert the Country into a unified market, replacing most indirect taxes & subsuming all those into a single tax regime. He said that trade & industry is looking at GST as a single tax-single authority regime coupled with uniform tax rate and uniform law across the Country and as such reducing the paper & other tax compliance to a great extent.

He also said that CAIT is launching an online petition in support of GST urging all political parties to come together in the interest of the nation and pass the GST Bill. The online petition will obtain concurrence of millions of traders from all over India. The petition will said that let the GST bill is passed in Parliament & whatever needs to be done further can be discussed at the time of framing separate laws for Central GST, Integrated GST to be passed by Parliament and State GST to be passed by State legislatures.
