This comes immediately after the actor criticised Tamil Nadu BJP leader H Raja for watching parts of Vijay’s movie ‘Mersal’ online.

A team of the Goods and Services Tax Intelligence Agency on Monday raided Tamil actor Vishal’s production house Vishal Film Factory, The News Minute reported. Vishal is also the president of the Tamil Nadu Film Producers Council.

The raids began at the premises of the production house in Chennai’s Vadapalani at 2 pm on Monday.

The raids come immediately after Vishal criticised Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party leader H Raja for watching parts of Vijay-starrer Mersal online. Mersal makes references to the Goods and Services Tax and also features scenes where the actor took a dig at the Centre’s decision to demonetise Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes last year. The party’s Tamil Nadu unit had objected to the scenes criticising GST. The producers of the film reportedly offered on Friday to remove scenes that the BJP have considered offensive.
