Green and Red buses to run in the city from December 1

: In a remarkable move by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s Transport Committee has finalized the plying of Green and red buses in the city. According to Chairman of Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s Transport Committee Balya Borkar, there was an unprecedented delay in the Integrated Bus Transporting Management (IBTM) and the buses which were supposed to ply from November 15, 2016, will now be plying on Nagpur city roads from December 1, 2016 for the benefit of the citizens.

On November 8, 2016, Chairman of Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s Transport Committee Balya Borkar reviewed the city bus service in a meeting held in Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s Town Hall. During the meeting, the management of Integrated Bus Transporting Management run in association with Delhi Managing Transport System (DIMTS) has requested for a grace period of 15 days.

The new Green and Red buses will be plying on the city roads from December 1, 2016 operated by new operators.

On November 9, 2016, two new buses (34 seat) made by Tata Company was brought to the Nagpur Municipal Corporation. Chairman of Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s Transport Committee Balya Borkar was briefed about the rules and regulations of the operators while managing the bus-transport operations and the technical specifications of the buses.

The representative from Jaika Motors (authorized dealer for Tata Motors in Nagpur) claimed that Tata buses having the transport capacity of 20, 34 and 54 seats will be supplied to NMC. According to the demand of the operators of the city bus services they will be supplied 50-50 buses in three phases.

On the other hand, almost everybody in NMC seemed to be dodging or avoiding giving any details about the Green Bus.

From December 1, 2016, all the buses which are plying presently in the city will be handed over to the new operators. Apart from this new Red and green buses will also ply on city road as agreed in the contract.

Before handing over the buses, all the city buses will be equipped with modern GPS and other modern tracking systems.

According to Balya Borkar, time is being sought from the guests for the inauguration of the new bus service.
