Gram Panchayats directed to fight spread of Scrub Typhus

NAGPUR: After nine patients died of the Scrub Typhus in Nagpur district so far, District Health Officer Dr Yogendra Sawai has directed all gram panchayats to immediately spray pesticides in their respective areas. He also directed officers at all primary health centres to immediately refer patients showing symptons of Scrub Typhus to Government Medical College Nagpur.

Dr Sawai also directed the entire administration to be on alert on prevent more casualties from this deadly disease. He said all measure were being taken to prevent spread of this disease.

Dr Sawai has directed all gram panchayat to take all necessary steps within three days to prevent the further spread of the disease. The workers concerned have been directed to spread Malathion powder on heaps of cowdung, garbage and dirty areas.

It has been directed to spray pesticides and do fogging at cattlesheds. Villagers will be made aware of the disease through distribution of informative pamphlets.

Dr Sawai said that pateints suffering from cold, fever, cough, etc shall immediately consult the doctor.
