Gram Panchayat polls: Bawankule urges SEC to give permission for filing nominations offline

Nagpur/Mumbai: The State BJP President and MLC Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Thursday met Urvinder Pal Singh Madan, the Maharashtra State Election Commissioner and urged him to facilitate filing of nomination forms offline system for Gram Panchayat elections in state.

Bawankule said that the process for holding elections to 7751 Gram Panchayats in State is going on. The candidates have file their nominations online method. However, due to server problems, a large number of nominations could not be filed. The last date of filing nominations is ending on December 2. Hence there is possibility of several interested candidates deprived of contesting the elections, the BJP President stated.

Bawankule urged to the State Election Commissioner to immediately issue order giving permission to file nomination papers offline. Further, in view of server problems, the last date for filing nominations should be extended by one day to December 3, he demanded.
