Nagpur : Warning the State government that secondary treatment to the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj would not be tolerated at any cost, MLA Ajit Pawar asked the government to clear its stand on the issue.

The issue of proposed statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the Arabian Sea rocked the State Assembly on Friday also. The Opposition warned the State government against reducing the height of the statue by even an inch.

The Chief Minister told the House that the height of the statue was not reduced. However, Ajit Pawar claimed that the Maharashtra Government had reduced the height of the statue from proposed 160 meters to 126 meters to facilitate tallest statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Gujarat.

Pawar said that they had enough respect for Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. But at the same time he demanded that the State government should fulfill its promise of making the tallest statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the sea. When the government had already declared that funds would not be an issue, then what was promoting the government to reduce the height of the statue, Pawar questioned.
