Governors condemns Naxal attack in Gadchiroli; Cancels Maharashtra Day reception

Mumbai: The Governor of Maharashtra CH. Vidyasagar Rao has strongly condemned the Naxal attack in Gadchiroli district and conveyed his deepest condolences to the kin of the police personnel who lost their lives in the attack. In a message, the Governor said: “I was shocked and deeply saddened to know about the Naxal attack in Gadchiroli district in which some of our bravest police personnel lost their lives. I condemn the dastardly Naxal attack in strongest words. I send my deepest condolences to the next of kin of the police personnel martyred in the attack.”

Maharashtra Day reception cancelled:

The Governor has cancelled the reception and cultural programme organized at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai on the evening of Maharashtra Day on Wednesday (1 May). The reception was cancelled as a mark of respect to the police personnel who lost their lives in the Naxal attack in Gadchiroli district. The Governor had organized the Reception and Cultural Programme for eminent personalities and diplomats on the occasion of the 59th anniversary of Maharashtra Day. The same has now been cancelled.
