Goons target two cars, burgle laptops by smashing window glasses

Nagpur: Unidentified miscreants targeted two parked cars and stole two laptops and other valuables by smashing window glasses of the vehicles. The kind of crime is witnessing a spurt in the city.

In the first incident, a resident of Shrikrishna Vandan Aprtment, Friends Colony, Katol Road, Ranay Ranjitarsingh Mohta (36) parked his Hyundai car (MH-31/TV 4822) near Mount Road Overbridge in Sadar around 8 pm on Monday. As Shrikrishna was busy in his outing, unidentified criminal(s) smashed window glass of rear door of his car and decamped with a black-coloured Lenovo IBM laptop worth Rs 50,000. The theft came to notice of Shrikrishna when he returned to his car. He immediately registered a case in this regard with Sadar police.

Police constable Premkumar Dhurve booked the unidentified goon(s) under Section 379 of the IPC and started investigation.

Similarly, another victim, Shahjad Mehurnuz Patel (27), resident of Breed Plaza, Kadbi Square, parked his Maruti Brezza car (MH-49/AE 5941) in front of New Bharatiya Motors, near Arya Samaj Building, CA Road between 5.15 pm and 7.15 pm on Monday. He then went for purchasing electric tools in a nearby shop. In the meantime, unidentified miscreant(s) broke glass of car’s side window and laid hands on a Lenovo laptop and important documents.

Ganeshpeth ASI Pratapsingh Thakur, based on complaint of Shahjad, registered a case under Sections 379, 461 of the IPC and searching for the offenders.

On Sunday also, unidentified burglars had lifted a a bag containing gold ornaments and a cellphone collectively worth Rs 41,000 from Mahindra Bolero car when it was parked in front of Swarg Lawns on Kamptee Road in Pachpaoli Police Station jurisdiction. A resident of Bani Rambhapur, Akola, Harshavardhan Pundlikrao Mendhe (37) and his family had come to Swarg Lawns to attend a wedding ceremony. Harshavardhan had parked his Mahindra Bolero car (MH-40/BF4801) in front of the lawns. Between 8.30 pm and 9 pm, a thief broke the window glass of the car and took away the bag containing gold ornaments and a mobile phone collectively worth Rs 41,000.
