Goon attacks youth with knife

Nagpur: An unidentified goon attempted to kill a youth with a knife in Rana Pratap Nagar Police Station area in the small hours of Monday. With deep injuries on his back and thigh, Swapnil Shrikant Thakre (26) was rushed to Government Medical College & Hospital.

A resident of Police Nagar,Hingna Road,Swapnil and his friend Akshay Suresh Lothe(26) were going on a motorcycle (MH-31/DP9661) around 12.30 am. Swapnil was riding pillion on Akshay’s bike. A goon stopped them and asked as to where they were going.

Before Akshay could reply, he suddenly attacked pillion rider Swapnil injuring him seriously. Akshay some how managed to escape and informed the police.

A profusely bleeding Swapnil was rushed to Government Medical College & Hospital. Rana Pratap Nagar Police registered a case under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code, read with Section 4, 25 of the Arms Act, and started the probe.

Assistant Police Sub-Inspector(ASI) Prakash Dhone told‘sources that the identity of accused could not be ascertained so far. “We registered the case only on the basis of the information given by complainant Akshay,” he added. ASI Dhone said that Police would investigate the matter from all possible angles
