Google launches new Chromebooks at Rs 12,999

chromebookGoogle India has launched new, budget Chromebook notebooks in the country. Made in partnership with Indian OEM Xolo and Nexian, the new Chromebooks are priced at Rs 12,999 and will be available on Snapdeal and Amazon India, respectively.

Google has also informed that the latest Chromebook units from Asus including the Chromebook Flip and C201, and Samsung will be available from local retailers in the coming months.

The Nexian Air Chromebook sports an 11.6-inch TFT display (1366x768p). Powered by a 1.8GHz Cortex A17 Rockchip quad core processor and 2GB DDR3 RAM, the laptop comes with 16GB internal storage (up to 9.6GB available to user) and an SD card slot for expansion. It has 2 USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI port, a 1MP web camera and comes with Bluetooth 4.0. The laptop has a 4200mAh battery and offers a backup of 8 hours. The Nexian Chromebook is splash-proof and comes with a handle.

The Xolo Chromebook sports an 11.6-inch TFT display (1366x768p). Powered by a 1.8GHz Cortex A17 Rockchip quad core processor and 2GB DDR3 RAM, the laptop comes with 16GB internal storage (up to 9.6GB available to user) and an SD card slot for expansion. It has 2 USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI port, a 1MP web camera and comes with Bluetooth 4.0. The laptop has a 4200mAh battery and offers a backup of 10 hours.

Both devices run the latest version of Google’s Chrome OS.

In addition to the new devices, Google also announced the availability of Chromebooks for Indian schools and educational institutions nationally. The laptops come with Google Apps for Education which, as per Google, make it easy to create, learn and collaborate. Google offers the Chromebook Management Console, through which administrators can set up and manage up to thousands of Chromebooks from a computer or phone for students.

Google also announced the availability of Chromebooks for Businesses and Chromebox for meetings. Chromebox for Meetings brings together Hangouts, Google Apps and chromebox, making it simple and affordable for any company to have high-definition video meetings, as per the company. Chrome box for meetings has been priced at Rs 90,000.
