Gavit said that the districts of Gondia, Chandrapur and Baramati were promised Government Medical Colleges in the previous session, and admitted to the delay in fulfilling that promise. In the meantime, the State government had also been asked for finance, planning and a go- ahead from the Revenue Department for establishing Government Medical Colleges in the district, which have been granted. The Medical Council of India has been written to, and been requested to send a team to visit the three districts and give their permission.

“Our efforts are at the final stage. We will try our best to establish Government Medical Colleges in all three districts before the end of the session. As far as the requests to have a Government Medical College in each district of the state is considered, it is also being looked into and will be fulfilled”, said Gavit.
