Labour contractor, site engineer arrested for labours death in water tank collapse

NAGPUR News : Investigations in the case of labourer’s death in the water tank collapse at a Godrej Anandam Nagpur construction site; Ganeshpeth police has arrested labour contractor, Shriram Rai and site engineer Rajesh Vishwanath and are slapped under the offence of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

On December 5 around 9 am, Ismail Shaikh (45) and Rabiullah Shaikh (22) were bathing and washing clothes along with other at the site at Model Mill square when suddenly the wall of a water tank caved in. The tank, around eight feet was filled up to bream level. Many labourers escaped with the minor injuries.

Rai, a native of Bihar, is alleged of using inferior quality material in construction the tank.

The township which is being build up under the banner of Godrej Anandam, its project has been handed by another private construction company.

In the further investigation, cops are also interrogating one of the directors for Anandam city, Rajesh Saraogi.

Senior inspector Dilip Jagdale of Ganeshpeth police station said the investigation team is trying to scan through the documents to ensure that the persons responsible for the mishap are booked. “We have already arrested two and more can be arrested. Various technical details of the constructions are being verified. We are questioning people responsible for the construction,” said Jagdale.
