GMCH Resident Doctors stage protest, demand hike in stipend

Nagpur: Wearing black ribbon on their arms, the Resident Doctors students of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Nagpur, staged demonstrations in the college premises on Monday for expressing their anguish against the government regarding the pending demand of hike in stipend.

Except for doctors in emergency duties, all the Resident Doctors participated in the protest. While speaking to Nagpur Today, Dr Ashutosh Jadhav, President of MARD, said that, “As per discussion, sudden proactive agitation or violence from doctors’ side won’t be fruitful as for now. Thus we carried out this protest and have series of protests lined-up regarding this issue of stipend.”

“Soon after the protest we have organized a procession till Dean’s office from MARD hostel on Thursday. If things do not go well, we will take a step ahead,” added Dr Jadhav.

Similar protests were staged by Resident Doctors in Aurangabad, Ambejogai and Latur.
