Global Panorama Showcase (GPS) inaugurated in Nagpur

Nagpur: Global Panorama Showcase (GPS) a Premier Business Networking Event and Business-to-Business trade show is scheduled from 8th – 10th February, at Hotel Centre Point, Ramdaspeth was inaugurated this morning at Hotel Centre Point, Ramdaspeth.

glopLeading Industry dignitaries were present at the Inaugural Ceremony. The event was opened with the lighting of the auspicious lamp by Mr. Gulshan Pal Singh, Mr. Jasbeer Singh Anand of Jagsons Travels along with Travel trade dignitaries namely, Mr. Anil Parashar – CFO Indigo Airlines, Mr. Rajeev Duggal – CEO, Lavasa Smart Cities, Mr. Sanjeet – Managing Director – Trav Talk, Mr. Dhananjay Saliankar – Regional Director, Starwood Group of Hotels, Mr. Sheldon Santwan – Editor & Publisher of Travel Biz Monitor and Mr. Sunil Kumar – President of Travel Agents Association of India.

Harmandeep Singh Anand – Managing Director, Jagsons Travels Pvt Ltd who is the event organizer – said that GPS was a dream that was conceptualized by him and his brother over 7 years ago. It was aimed at bringing Nagpur in the map of Tourism.  The show which is a premier event of Central India is aimed at growing the Tourism Business from Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh and for Exhibitors to understand the Tourism Potential the region has to offer.

Harmandeep Singh said that the 2nd Edition of the event is back and it is bigger than the previous. Over 100 products, including Tourism Boards, Hotels chains, Travel Products, Destination Management Companies are exhibiting. 100 buyers are being hosted from various cities such as Indore, Bhopal, Raipur and other parts of India. Exhibitors and Buyers can look forward to 2 days of networking and Knowledge sharing on 9th & 10th Feb.

Tourism Malaysia is the Country Partner for the 2nd year in a row and for the first time we have Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation participating as State Partner. Other Participants this year are Indonesia, Philippines, Bulgaria, Germany, Swiss Tourism, Spain Tourism Board, Canada, New Zealand, Fiji, International hotel Chain such as Starwood, The Residence, Rotana, Accor, Sun International, and many Destination Management Companies will be seen participating.

At the inaugural event Madhu Saliankar – Director EntReps Solutions, Marketing partner for the event spoke about how that the event is just not about business transactions, but also about knowledge sharing. She mentioned that EntReps conducted a Travel research of Central India to understand the true potential of the market that would guide all stake holders, to establish, distribute and promote their products in the right and best possible way. GPS also aims at guiding the Exhibitors in their promotional plans for this new Tourism Powerhouse. The research book titled “YOUR GPS TO CENTRAL INDIA” was released at this auspicious occasion. The research was published and presented by Travel Biz Monitor along with EntReps the Research Partner who conducted an in depth survey of the market.

glop1At the Inaugural, many local talent of Nagpur who have made a name for themselves and have found a place for themselves in the Guinness Book of Record and Limca Book of records have been felicitated. Over 20 Record holders from Nagpur from all walks of life have been felicitated at the event. To name a few we had

  • Jyoti Amge – the world’s shortest woman
    Iqbal Ahmed – the man who made the world’s smallest working stationary steam engine
    Prashant Gaikwad – A tabla teacher who played tabla for 324 hours in 2009, which earned him the Guinness recognition.
  • Gulabchand Jangid  who flew the biggest kite
  • And many more.

The travel leaders present during the occasion immediately pledged support to boost local talent and have come forward to form a fund to support and push local talent and give them a chance to excel.

The inaugural ceremony concluded with cutting of the ribbon and declaring GPS open to Business to the public, as 8th would be Consumer day where almost 1000 people are expected to visit.  During the course of the day, presentations from York University – Toronto, Canada, who is present here to promote educational program conducted presentations. Adventure Bike Tours also did a presentation to the Harley Davidson Club Members on adventure bike tours.

9th & 10th will be purely Business Sessions and agents from Nagpur, MP and Chhattisgarh are expected to visit.

Several training programs will be conducted by the exhibitors to educate and promote their products and destinations.
