Nagpur News: The crackdown against gender-selective tests and abortions in the state has picked up steam with the joint inspection team at Nagpur issuing show-cause notices to five sonography clinics and five medical termination of pregnancy in the city’s municipal limits on Wednesday.

The month long drive that started from June 1 aims to nab doctors flouting norms of the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostics (PCPNDT) Act.

“Five sonography clinics and an equal number of MTP centres were found at fault on the fifth day of the drive. All the erring centres are located in the municipal limits of Nagpur Municipal Corporation. There were discrepancies in records maintained at these centres and we issued them show-cause notices,” said a state health official.

The joint teams inspected a total of 175 sonography centres and 75 abortion clinics across the state on Wednesday.
