Nagpur: Ganeshpeth police constable, Sandeep Manaskar, has been booked under section 324 IPC. The said constable was suspended twice prior to this development. At present he is posted at police headquarters. His was assigned duty in the area near Shivaji statute, Mahal, but he used to be drunk with alcohol while on duty and chase people with a view to assault them. Thus the people were much harassed by him.
Recently, armed with lethal weapons and joined by three friends he was creating public disturbance near Gandhi Gate. The local residents then caught hold of him and handed over to Kotwali police station. His accomplice friends escaped from there. Kotwali police then handed over Sandeep to Ganeshpeth police as the incident occurred under jurisdiction of Ganeshpeth police. Taking action against him, Ganeshpeth police has slapped offences under sections 324, 34, 85 (A) IPC against him and further investigations are underway.
