The Crime Branch of Nagpur Police nabbed the key accused Aashish Kalya in the Suraj Yadav murder case and handed him over to Pachpaoli police for further action. Aashish Kalya was arrested from the Gopal Nagar area. Kalya is also an accused in MCOCA.
The Crime Branch got a tip off that Kalya was gambling in Gopal Nagar slums. The Crime Branch squad reached the spot immediately. Kalya, as soon as spotted police, tried to escape but was caught by the police. In the late night he was handed over to Pachpaoli police.
It may recalled, Suraj Yadav was murdered by Kalya and some other accomplices on November 18, 2012 over old rivalry or some other reasons.
The action to arrest Kalya was taken under the guidance of Commissioner of Police K K Pathak, Joint Commissioner of Police, by DCP Kolhe, ACP Sakharkar, PI Giri, PI Jangam, and other policemen.
