Holding of four Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) examinations simultaneously on the same day and at the same time resulted in very less number of candidates appearing for exam for Assistant Loco Pilots. Around 35 percent candidates appeared for the exam, much less than the applications received.
15000 candidates turn up at exam centers:
The Railways conducted the examination for Assistant Loco Pilots on Sunday, June 15. Around 42,000 candidates had applied for the same but the centers saw only 15000 examinees turning up for the exam. A total of 108 centers were set up for the exam out of which the Central Raliway Nagpur Division had set up 64 centers and the South East Railway Division had established 44 centers. The RRB exam under Bilaspur Zone was conducted on Sunday in Nagpur. Similarly, 3 other RRB exams under Raipur, Bhilai and Nagpur Zones were also held on Sunday. The candidates also put up their applications for more than one exam. But they had to make a choice of only one exam as all the four exams were to be held on same day and at same time. This dilemma resulted in less number of candidates turning up at the centers.

Help centre:
The Railways had established a 24-hour Help Center at Platform No. 1 of Nagpur Railway Station in order to extend assistance to outstation candidates. The Help Center functioned from Saturday till 3 pm of Sunday. Three employees were deployed at the Help Center who extended assistance to hundreds of outstation candidates like information regarding exam centers. A team of additional 45 RPF personnel was also summoned to manage the large number of candidates.
