Nagpur: Four members of a family, including three women, were injured in a fire started at their residence at Dipty Signal under Kalamna police area after the LPG gas cylinder started leaking on Sunday. The family had a lucky escape as the cylinder did not blast inside the room crammed with more than half dozen members.
The four victims have been identified as Tukaram Sahu (44), Bharti Sahu (28), Pushpa Sahu (39) and Ritu Sahu (38). The injured were taken to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) by the family and nearby residents after the incident.
Sources said the family was preparing food in the morning when the leaking cylinder caught fire. The family tried to shift the cylinder outside their room even when it was engulfed in the flames.
Fire brigade personnel said they received a call at 9.11am following which they rushed to the spot. After around an hour, the flames were brought under control. Properties worth around Rs 30,000 were damaged in the fire, said the Fire Brigade personnel adding one fire tender from Kalamna was pressed into action.
