
Nagpur: A third-party road contractor has caused repeated damage to critical water distribution pipelines within a span of 48 hours, resulting in severe disruption of water supply in the Nandanvan-2 command area.
On January 2, 2026, during piling work, the contractor damaged a 500 mm diameter main water pipeline, leading to the disruption of water supply across the entire Nandanvan-2 command area. Although repair work was undertaken during the early morning hours, the restoration was not executed properly.
During the repair process, the contractor further damaged a 200 mm diameter distribution pipeline. Subsequently, at around 2:30 PM, the same 500 mm diameter outlet pipeline was damaged once again. Later, at approximately 5:00 PM, another 200 mm diameter distribution main was damaged, marking the fourth instance of pipeline damage within 48 hours.
Due to these repeated incidents and improper restoration work, the water supply has been severely affected since yesterday in the following areas:
Shesh Nagar, Vidya Nagar, Shreekrushna Nagar, Santaji Nagar, Gopalkrushna Nagar, Sankalp Nagar, Indira Devi Town, Ganga Vihar Colony, Venkatesh Nagar, Darshan Colony, Srinagar, Sadbhavana Nagar, and Vrindavan Nagar.
The repeated damage caused by the third-party road contractor has resulted in significant inconvenience to consumers. Necessary instructions have been issued to prevent further damage, and continuous efforts are underway to restore the normal water supply at the earliest.
