Nagpur: A former Ranji player from city Amol Jichkar committed suicide by hanging in his Civil Lines house on Monday. However, the suicide came to light on Tuesday morning only. Financial distress is being seen as the likely cause behind Amol’s extreme step. The exact reason could get revealed after the detailed investigation by cops.
According to information, Amol Jichkar was staying in Civil Lines area. On Monday, Amol ended his life by hanging. But the tragic incident came to light only on Tuesday morning. He had recently started a restaurant at Law College Square in the partnership of Vipul Pande, who is also a former cricket player.
Amol Jichkar had represented Vidarbha in six Ranji matches. He was active in cricket from 1998 to 2002. In the six first class cricket matches, Amol had taken seven wickets with economy rate of 3.64. Cricketing circles in Vidarbha took the news of Amol’s untimely death as a shock. The last rites are likely to be performed at Ambazari crematorium in the evening.
