Font glitch mars BMC online exams in Nagpur

Students appearing for online exams conducted by Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday here had to experience peculiar glitch as they could not get the desired fonts for Marathi typing on the computers they were alloted. BMC had conducted online exams for the posts of clerk here on Friday and Nagpur was also one of the centres for the exam. A Business Management college, at Madhavnagri, CRPF Campus , Hingna road was the examination centre.

2 (6)According to information the online exam started at 8.am, but the candidate appearing for the exams were surprised when they could not get Kruti Dev fonts in their computers. According to the BMC guidelines the students had practiced Marathi typing in Kruti Dev font.

However, probably about 350 students in six computer labs of this college had to type their exams in MS Word translator in English. Kruti Dev font was not installed in the computers. The candidates had to face difficulty in giving their exams. The candidates had prepared as per Kruti Dev but writing in English made them lose their precious time.

The mistake was later on rectified by the centre. But the first batch had to give their exams in English fonts. The aggrieved students have demanded for re-examination.
