First look : Multi-utility card of Maha Metro ready , to be launched soon

NAGPUR: In a unique experiment, the Maha Metro will be releasing a specially-designed National Common Multi-Utility Card, which people can use not only for Metro travel but also for other day to day monetary transactions.

A memorandum in this regard was signed on 30 September 2017 in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Phadnavis, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and State Bank of India (SBI) president Arundhati Bhattacharya. The memorandum bestowed the responsibility of preparing the card upon SBI. The bank has reportedly completed the card’s design and the Nagpur Metro Rail Corporation Ltd has liked it. The card will be soon made available to Nagpurians.

Deputy General Manager of Majhi Metro Akhilesh Halwe said that the objective of Maha Metro was to ease the life of its passengers. The work of Metro was going with good pace and the company was trying to be prepare for all future requirements. The Nagpur Metro had reached the stage of its commercial run. Brijesh Dixit, the Managing Director of Maha Metro, had conceptualized the idea of multi-utility card for passengers. The card was almost ready and it will be soon available for Nagpurians, Halwe said.

Features of National Common Multy-Utility Card:

SBI will open an account in the card holder’s name

Card holder will be able to deposit money in the account

The card will like ATM and Pay Card that can be used for any monetary transaction

The card holder will get transaction details through Email and SMS

The card will be applicable for Metro and other transport services

Nagpur Municipal Corporation will be partner in the service

The card will be similar to EVM (EuroPay, Master, Visa)

Use of National Common Multy-Utility Card:

The card can be used for digital payment to autorickshaws, buses, taxis, shopping malls, restaurants, theatres, and wherever digital payment facility is available.
