Nagpur: Tension ran high in slums of Wadi area when a gang of 7-8 bike borne men fired bullets on notorious goon Bharat Sahare and his friend between 1.30 am and 2 am of Saturday. However, no injuries have been reported in the incident that took place at Dakhni Mohalla Slums, Shivaji Nagar-Katol Bypass in Wadi police jurisdiction.
However, according to reliable sources, the entire episode seems to be a bogus one and an attempt by the cunning goon to hoodwink police for more dubious reasons than one. Bharat Sahare is himself facing several criminal cases and to escape police action, he cooked up the firing incident, sources said. Sensing his elimination, the goon could have fabricated the firing incident, sources added.
According to the complaint lodged by Bharat Sahare, a gang of 7-8 unidentified men arrived in the area in the dead of night and started damaging a Maruti Swift car parked there. As he and his friend, who had just returned from a birthday party, were watching the incident on a CCTV in their house, they rushed out of house and ran towards the Swift car. Seeing the two rushing towards them, the gang of men panicked and fired 2-3 rounds in the air and fled the spot. The entire incident has been caught in the CCTV camera.
However, according to sources, glaring holes could be picked up in the so-called firing incident. Firstly, nobody in the area heard firing sound at the dead of night. Secondly, when the cops were searching for blank cartridges, they could not find any cartridges. But soon after, Bharat Sahare came out with two blank cartridges which he said he found at a dark corner of the spot. Moreover, he also found three live cartridges at the spot. Thirdly, the hard disc of the CCTV camera in which Sahare and his friend saw the 7-8 men damaging the Swift car, was found corrupt and unable to record anything. Further, one of the suspect accused whose name Sahare mentioned in his complaint, was reportedly sleeping in his house at the time of firing incident. Moreover, the white Activa which Sahare mentioned was sold by the suspect accused three months back. All these facts point out Sahare was trying to hoodwink police with a concocted firing story.
Anyway, Wadi police have registered a case and started investigations.
