A fire broke out in a Police Post coming under jurisdiction of Hudkeshwar Police Station on Wednesday night. The Police Post was reportedly totally reduced to ashes but raised many questions over the mysterious fire. Fingers are being raised as deliberate fire on the part of miscreants.
The Home Minister R R Patil, in order to maintain law and order in the Orange City very effectively, had announced setting up of Police Post in sensitive areas. Accordingly, the Police Post was set up in Durganagar under Hudkeshwar Police Station. But the fire on Wednesday night completely destroyed the Police Post leading to tension in the nearby area. An alert citizen informed the Fire Brigade about the incident. But before the Fire Brigade team with fire tenders could reach the spot, the Police Post was totally gutted.
Interestingly, the Post was under close watch of police personnel for 24 hours. However, according to residents of the area, at the time of fire on Wednesday night no policeman was present in the Post. Murmurs of deliberate fire on the part of some miscreants could be heard in the area. Hudkeshwar police have launched a probe into the incident and are trying to ascertain the cause of fire.
