Fire breaks out in LIC office near Kasturchand Park; computers, other stuff destroyed

Nagpur: A major fire broke out in the office Life Insurance Corporation situated near LIC Square, Kasturchand Park here on Wednesday. The fire, first noticed around 5-45 in the wee hours, reportedly destroyed five computers, chairs and other material. Although the exact cause of the fire could not be determined immediately, short circuit is being suspected. No casualties were reported in the fire.

According Fire Brigade sources, the fire was first noticed in the wee hours of Wednesday as smoke was seen billowing from the office of LIC. The Branch Manager Sanjay Ghait was immediately informed about the fire who in turn alerted the Fire Brigade. A fire tender was rushed to the scene which brought the fire under control. Mediamen, who had reached the spot soon after getting information, and other people were barred from entering the building as part of precaution as well as investigation.

Fire Brigade sources further said that the destroyed computers reportedly contained vital information regarding policies. LIC officials were now trying to recover the data of information from the damaged computers.
