nagpur-university1Nagpur News: The 100th Convocation Ceremony of Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) will finally be organized on September 26, 2014 as the dispute over the issue of alleged bogus 1378 degrees of the students who completed their graduation in the colleges running sans regular teachers has been resolved. The Nagpur   University Committee headed by Chancellor’s nominee Sanjay Khadatkar, which was probing the issue, gave its clean chit to the 1378 degrees. The RTMNU on Friday, August 8 issued a notification on its website stating the implementation of the Ordinance 6/2014 passed by the Management Council. Now, former President of India Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam will grace the the Convocation Ceremony.

It may be recalled that due to the contentious issue of 1378 degrees the 100th Convocation Ceremony, which was scheduled to be held on November 16, 2013, could not be held as President of India Pranab Mukherjee refused to be chief guest and cancelled the visit. Thereafter, Acting Vice Chancellor Anoop Kumar had constituted a committee which finally gave clean chit by saying the degrees cannot be said as bogus.
