Mumbai: In a major embarrassment for Mumbai Congress, a woman office-bearer has alleged that she was molested by a male co-worker during a candle light march in protest of the Kathua and Unnao rape cases at Juhu on Sunday.

According to Mid-Day, the party woman office-bearer in her complaint to Mumbai Congress president Sanjay Nirupam, has said that workers of Youth Congress and NSUI (students’ wing) during the protest touched, pushed and shoved women workers in an inappropriate manner, and now are feeling unsafe among own party’s male colleagues. She also added that this behavior of youth and student workers has put senior leadership to shame. She has also said that she has shared some of the culprit’s identity with Sanjay Nirupam.

In the meanwhile, Sanjay Nirupam has told a leading daily that, “She immediately called and texted me. I have apologized to her and all other women workers of the Congress. We understand the exuberance of youth and student workers, but that cannot be tolerated any longer if they are involved in such unsavory behavior. Action will follow soon.”
