Fake PNB Branch Manager robs man of Rs 70,000

Nagpur: A trickster posed as Branch Manager of a nationalised bank and pilfered Rs 70,000 from account of a 59-year old man by digging out information about his ATM Card Number. The accused has been booked and being hunted.

The victim Sudhakar Tulshiram Ratnaparkhi (59), resident of Gadge Nagar in MIDC area, is holder of an account in Punjab National Bank, Pratapnagar Branch. Between 6.30 pm of Monday and 11 am of of Tuesday, Sudhakar received a call on his mobile phone from 9570163343 and the caller posed himself Branch Manager of PNB. The trickster told Sudhakar that his ATM card has expired and to renew the card the 16 digit number has to be furnished to the bank. Believing the caller as Branch Manager, Sudhakar provided the vital 16 digit number of his ATM Card. Equipped with the number, the bogus Branch Manager swapped the number online and made a purchase of Rs 70,000 at the expense of Sudhakar.

MIDC P K Shiurkar has registered a case against the fake Branch Manager underr Section 420 of IPC read with Sections 66B, 66D of IT Act and searching for him.
